What is Writing Tarot Upon Your Heart?
Let's start with what it isn't:
Writing Tarot Upon Your Heart is meant to be just that. This will not be about memorizing strange and tedious details or overanalyzing why one particular character has blue shoes or some such thing. There are plenty of classes that will drown you in minutia, and if that's your jam, more power to you! This course is meant to revive a practice that may have gotten stale, or to ingrain the Tarot into a newer practitioner's very soul. Tarot is a tool for growth, self help/care, advice, guidance, and a lot of times for reassurance that we are right where we are supposed to be. This is not an exercise in memorization, it is a lesson in connection!
What you will learn:
Long time reader or newly beginning practitioner, we are in this together! If there are cards or ideas that you struggle with, we will get through that! Maybe certain themes rub you the wrong way, or even frighten you; we will address that as well! Nothing about the Tarot is negative, no card needs to be feared or seen as menacing. Whether you want to read just for yourself or have had querents galore, you will gain more confidence and a fresh perspective during our time together. I promise that you'll NEVER have to look up what the cards mean again. We are creating RELATIONSHIPS! We all have different natural abilities and gifts, and the Tarot is an amazing asset to have in that toolkit.

Writing Tarot Upon Your Heart is a 7 week immersive course that only requires 15 minutes of active study a day, but provides lifelong understanding. Materials come in via email and there are NO Zoom calls, Facebook groups, YouTube Lives, or any of those types of commitments. My students have access to me at any time for questions, and participation is completely confidential. The way the material is presented, I guarantee that by the end of our time together, you will never have to scramble for meanings or the right words, as you will be shown is exactly what the Universe has been waiting to reveal all along.

HOW THE NSMT CAME TO BE
As a young person, I had the original Rider-Waite Tarot Deck, but had the most difficult time connecting with it. I found it such a struggle as the images just didn't resonate with me. Fast forward to many years later...while I had found (and been gifted) a few decks that I did really enjoy, I just felt that something was missing from my practice. This is when I decided to create my own deck; we were in a severe lockdown and it seemed that there was no time like right then to jump in and give it a go! This undertaking was daunting at best, and many times I wondered what on earth I was thinking. The most amazing thing happened through this process; I FELL IN LOVE with the RWS for the first time ever! It must have been the methodical (I am very "Type A") way that I went through each major (in order of course) and then each suit in the minors as well, creating each card as it's own separate entity. I can't explain it, but something changed for me during the development of the NSMT that enhanced everything about Tarot in my practice; it felt like a cosmic download of epic proportions! If you have a stumbling block type of feeling with the RWS, the NSMT might be the tool that you are looking for. The cards and images follow the standard RWS design, but with a more modern backdrop and within a more inclusive framework. Once you FEEL the meanings of these cards (and you'll LOVE the guidecards to get you started), reading with any tarot deck will be a fun challenge, rather than a stressful experience. The NSMT encourages both your intuitive process as well as facilitates the knowledge and the baseline of RWS that you will have gleaned through integrating it into your own workings.
The NSMT comes with a set of Guidecards that have blurbs to give the basic meaning of each and every card. It makes it really convenient to begin a Tarot practice or create a fresh perspective of your current one. It mixes and plays well with many other decks and divination tools, and stands alone on it's own just fine as well. There is a Guidecard that gives clear and easy instructions to get you started if you are new to Tarot, or to help you embrace the addition of something different than what you have previously worked with before.

While we are discussing that this deck was made for all, the one thing that I hear so consistently is that the NSMT is straight-forward and very honest. If you are interested in getting down to brass tacks with a self-knowledge journey, this might be just the deck for you. The name might give it away, but honestly, when I created this website and my instagram, I was just so tired of all the flowery, almost psychobabblish, made up language I was hearing. How can Tarot (or anything else) be approachable when you can't figure out what in the world the person relaying the message is saying? I wanted to create something that was written in a style that anyone could understand and incorporate into their own language without so much confusion and woo woo filler thrown in. The response has been incredible, and to think I almost never hit that send button! What it came down to for me was this; I decided that I didn't care if anyone liked this deck because I liked it. It SPOKE to me, and in that moment, that was enough. I have been so touched by the letters, emails, messages, and posts that have told me that other people feel the same way. I truly encourage you to check out the Indie Decks that call to you, as while they might not be as accessible as some others, there is no doubt that they will change you and your practice for the better.

WHY NOT BUY COUNTERFEIT?
PSA: PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE COUNTERFEIT DECKS, THIS HURTS EVERYONE! Did you know that Indie Decks are created by regular, independent people just like YOU? Would you want someone to steal your artwork, produce a cheap and shoddy copy of it, and then put it into the world with your name attached? When people purchase a counterfeit deck, they are supporting a stolen product from a member of their own community! Just because we don't know someone in real life does that negate the time, effort, and love they put into their work! By purchasing a deck directly from the creator, you are supporting the artist, their printer, supplier(s), and their family. Indie decks can be a bit more expensive, but for the small artist, production costs can be astronomical. Many of us completely self-fund our creations, and that is quite the undertaking! My deck, The Not So Mystical Tarot, was quite the education, I can assure you! Cost goes up exponentially (as we watch in horror), and many of us forgo family vacations, work extra side gigs, or put ALL of our reading & extra income toward sharing these decks that come from our very heart and soul with the world. Spotting a counterfeit deck is not very difficult, and if the price is too good to be true, it probably is! Just wanting something on your table is not worth bringing the energy of thievery into your practice. If you come across a listing that you are not sure about, message the creator and ask if this is legit or if you are being scammed. Even if you feel that you can get past the obviously shady vibes of a fake, it is likely that your new found acquisition will not be aesthetically pleasing. Many stolen and copied products are of inferior quality, are incomplete (guidebook linked to some obscure website or emailed in a sketchy pdf), have pixelated or chopped graphics and will be printed on flimsy, cheap cardstock. These offerings will NOT bring you joy, and I am willing to bet that a creator would rather work with you on a price, a trade, or really anything they can think of to not have you waste your money on this garbage. Know this, most indie deck creators do not make very much money on their decks at all; what we do receive is the joy of knowing that our heart speaks to YOURS through the study, sharing, and self-development of the Tarot.
